Is Plaud HIPAA compliant?
Checked 6 Nov 2026 from 5 vendor sources
Plaud says a BAA is available for healthcare organizations on request through [email protected], but no vendor page we read states which plans qualify or what it covers. The vendor’s position isn’t clear enough to rely on. Treat it as unsafe for patient data until the vendor confirms in writing.
What the BAA leaves out
- Plaud does not automatically redact patient-identifiable information spoken in recordings
How to get the BAA
Email [email protected], which the vendor says will guide you through obtaining and signing it.
What the vendor says to do
- Vendor suggests using placeholders such as Patient A and removing identifiers before AI features
What we couldn’t confirm
The BAA route rests on one support article. We found no vendor page saying which plans qualify or what the BAA covers.
Proof from the vendor

This isn’t legal advice. A BAA is one requirement. Your clinic still has to set the tool up correctly and control who has access. Vendors change their terms, so confirm with the vendor before you sign. PHI means protected health information, which includes patient data.
